Remember Why You Are Here

I want to encourage each of you to find time through out your day to just spend time with God. Whether it's listening to worship music, praying, reading your bible, listening to sermons, etc. God just wants to be with you. Your best friends aren't the people that you have never met, or that you never spend time with, they are the people that you spend lots of time with. You learn about each other, and watch the other grow, and you see what they go through, and stand by their side through it.

Each of us has a unique and specific reason for being here today, no matter where on earth or what day of what year it is. God had crafted you, his masterpiece...

^{Ephesians 2:10}

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

..., and placed you precisely where you are, to do the good things that He has planned. God doesn't want us to go through our life looking for the next person who comes along who makes us feel loved, because that love is only temporary. God wants you to see that he is here, waiting for you to see Him. That He has a plan for our lives, but we have to be willing to rest in his supernatural love. God is the I Am, He is everything that you are longing to find, and He is right here waiting for you to turn around and fall into His arms of love.

So as you go about your day, remember why you are here, and rest in the Lord.

He'll take care of the rest.

Rest in the LORD - Advice for Everyone (but mostly kids)

We are called to be an example to everyone around us “in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” This calling was originally given to Timothy, while he was still very young, by Peter. We have since adopted it as God’s word to us, that we may set the example of His will through this earth. It is difficult to be bold enough to stand out in a world of similarity. But, as God’s children, that is what we are called to do. We are called to be difference, and the only way we can do that, is through God. Dear child, rest in the LORD, and He will give you the strength to stand out for what you believe!

Rest in the LORD

I have been told a lot lately to just rest, spend some time just for you, and forget about trying to be a servant, forget about your school work, take some time and just do something that you enjoy, get away from everything/everyone else, and just spend some time for yourself. This is something that is really hard for me to do, because I am just going, going, going all the time, but if you look in the Bible, you will find that God rested, Jesus rested.

Genesis 2

2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Matthew 11

28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Luke 5

15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Exodus 34

21 "Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.

Ezra 8

31 On the twelfth day of the first month we set out from the Ahava Canal to go to Jerusalem. The hand of our God was on us, and he protected us from enemies and bandits along the way. 32 So we arrived in Jerusalem, where we rested three days.

These are just a few of the times that resting is emphasized in the Bible. If God, the maker of all things good, finds it necessary to rest, how much more should we? Jesus was the perfect being on earth, yet he still rested, how much more should we?

I want to challenge you all this week to take some time to just do nothing, just rest.
